Association
1plus2 is an association in Switzerland that promotes polyamory within the context of a multi-person household with more than two partners as a sociologically, morally and ethically sound way of life and an alternative to monogamy.
Allelogamy
In the long term, 1plus2 aims to introduce a new legal form of marriage that allows for the marriage of more than two partners. In contrast to polygamous legal forms, in which a man marries several women (polygyny) or a woman has several husbands (polyandry), 1plus2 advocates a legal form in which more than two people can marry one another. This form of marriage could only take place if all the people involved give their consent to one another. 1plus2 calls this form of marriage ‘allelogamy’, derived from the Greek allêlôn, ‘mutual’ (or ‘one another’), and gamos, ‘marriage’. Allelogamy should also be possible for same-sex couples of three, as living together in a small group brings many practical, sociological and sexual benefits, particularly when all those involved love one another. We believe that this form of community also promotes sexual fidelity and can thus help to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
